Care Plan for Residents who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and other Dementias
Our caregivers provide our residents who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias the ability to maintain a social life where they can participate in activities in a safe and structured environment. Following is a list of some of the services that our staff provide for our residents to preserve their quality of life and dignity.
Our trained staff provides assistance with dressing, oral hygiene, hair styling and general grooming including bathing. Our residents who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias are toileted on a regular schedule throughout the day as a way to avoid accidents and embarrassing circumstances. We ensure proper nutrition for our residents by providing three balanced meals per day and an additional evening snack. Our staff provides assistance with eating when needed and offers reminders for drinking to maintain adequate hydration status. |
Our staff is trained and prepared to manage behaviors associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias such as wandering, incontinence, hallucinations, and agitation. Our private nurse works closely with doctors and other specialists involved in the residents care to resolve issues when possible by addressing changes in therapy or medication regimen as needed.
We provide medical services, such as insulin shots, medication administration, blood pressure checks, physical, dental, foot, eye, and ear examinations. Any findings discovered by our nurse beyond normal limit ranges are reported to physicians and family on the resident’s behalf. Daily enrichment activities may include pet therapy, music therapy, art therapy, massage therapy, outdoor time, and story hour. Additionally, our doors are open to the family members of residents and staff, providing a |
social family atmosphere to keep our special residents engaged with the world.
Our homes are designed to provide a safe environment for residents who require walkers, canes, and wheelchairs. Our staff is also trained in the use of hydraulic lifts that remain in our homes, minimizing the risk for fall related injuries. In addition to the services provided by our on-site staff, our facilities also welcome other disciplines that may be involved in our residents care such as physical therapists, occupational and speech therapists, and visiting physicians. We accommodate these important adjuncts to care by providing a safe, spacious environment, or a private room free from distractions. |
