Assisted Living, LLC Birchwood Properties offers four wonderful adult foster care homes. Birchwood Gardens, Birchwood Manor and Birchwood Living, located in Ann Arbor, MI and Birchwood Retreat, located in Chelsea, MI. Each home features six private resident rooms, equipped with large flat screen TV’s, Wifi, spacious closets, and views of the surrounding nature. These rooms can be fully furnished upon request, or you are free to bring your own belongings. Our homes are built from the ground up with simplicity, accessibility, and comfort, allowing residents to feel at home with around the clock care.
Birchwood properties administrator, a registered nurse, and graduate from the University of Michigan School of Nursing, is in the homes daily, caring for, and keeping track of residents condition. An advocacy program for residents is offered for health services that may be needed outside of the home, whereas our nurse accompanies residents to appointments and procedures. Utilizing medical computer charting systems, residents information, daily medical entries, as well as medication administration is combined to provide personalized care.
Our staff is composed of a mixture of caring people, committed to their jobs, with several years of experience and educational achievements, such as being CNA certified and trained in memory care for residents who suffer from Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Our staff to resident ratio most days per week is 1:3 from the hours of 9am to 3pm which allows us to provide individual personalized attention to our residents. During these hours of additional staffing, we are able to conduct extra activities such as exercises, arts and crafts time; and nail and hair care, just to name a few.
Assisted Living also offers respite care, space permitting.
Transportation to and from appointments, as well as day trips, is offered to residents through the use of our handicap accessible bus.
